Follow Up Boldly: What to Say, When to Ask, and How to Keep Going
Have you ever sent a message or made a call and then waited... and waited... and still heard nothing?
If you’re in the support-raising season, you know the feeling.
It’s frustrating when someone says they’re interested and then never replies.
Or when a strong connection suddenly goes quiet.
You’re not alone.
Every missionary has faced the awkward waiting game.
But here’s the truth:
Breakthrough doesn’t come from sitting still.
It comes from following up boldly, with vision, faith, and strategy.
God Calls Us to Persevere
"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." - Galatians 6:9
Support raising isn’t just about funding.
It’s about faithfulness.
Every call you make, every email you send, every follow-up message is part of the harvest you’re trusting God to grow.
Here’s What You Can Do This Week:
1. Be Clear on Your Goal
You’re not just giving updates, you’re inviting people to meet.
Make your ask clear:
“I’d love to meet with you for 30 minutes to share about the mission and how you could partner with us.”
2. Don’t Just Ping, Follow Up
Follow-up means more than one message.
If someone hasn’t replied, circle back with another call, voicemail, or email within a few days.
Try different platforms if needed.
3. Don’t Assume They’re Saying No
Silence usually means they’re busy, not uninterested.
People need reminders.
Don’t be afraid to gently nudge them again.
4. Share Your Heart, Not Just the Info
Instead of just sending a link, lead with vision.
Say something like,
“God’s doing something big, and I’d love for you to hear about it.”
Keep it personal and faith-filled.
5. Ask for Referrals If They Can’t Meet
If they can’t meet or give, ask:
“Is there anyone else you think I should connect with who’d care about this mission?”
Encouragement for the Journey
Support raising is spiritual work.
It takes courage to keep asking.
But when you follow up in love, you give people a real chance to say yes.
Your job isn’t to pressure, it’s to invite and persevere.
You’re not doing this alone.
You have tools, teammates, and a God who goes before you.
Your Action This Week:
Follow up with everyone who didn’t reply last week.
Clarify your ask. Focus on booking the meeting.
Use your Support Tracker to log every outreach.
Keep praying for open hearts and boldness to keep going.
