How to Build a Connection Team That Multiplies Your Mission
Step-by-Step Help for Growing Your Support Team
Ever Feel Like You’re Fundraising All Alone?
You’ve made the calls. Send the texts. Prayed hard. But you still feel stuck.
Maybe you’re tired. Maybe it feels like no one really understands the pressure you’re under. That’s normal.
But here’s the good news: You don’t have to do this alone.
There’s a better way, and it starts by building a Connection Team. These are 25 people who love God, care about you, and want to help. Not just with money, but by connecting you to others.
A Quick Word from the Bible
“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.” - Philippians 4:19
This is a promise: God will provide. And many times, He provides through people.
That’s why Jesus didn’t do ministry alone. He built a team. Now it’s your turn.
What Is a Connection Team?
It’s simple. A Connection Team is a group of 25 people who:
Know and trust you
Believe in your callingCan introduce you to 10 others who might support your mission
Instead of calling strangers, you start with trusted friends who help open doors.
How to Build Your Team (in 5 Easy Steps)
1. List Your Top 25
Identify your 25 potential Connection Team members.
Think about your biggest encouragers. Family, mentors, old youth leaders, and church friends. Start there.
2. Practice Your Pitch
Create a short 15–30 minute talk. Share your story. What’s your mission? What has God called you to do?
Then say:
“Can you introduce me to 10 people who might want to help?”
This is called an invitation meeting.
3. Ask the Right Way
Reach out with kindness and clarity. Call them. Text them. Meet in person if possible or over Zoom if needed.
Let them know:
“I’m not asking for money. I’m asking for help connecting to others.”
That takes off the pressure, and most people are happy to help.
4. Give Them a Simple Guide
After someone says yes, send a short welcome packet. This simple guide explains:
Your mission
Their role (connect, pray, join a monthly Zoom)
Who to invite (people who love God and love others)
Keep it short and easy to follow.
5. Stay Connected Monthly
Once a month, meet with your Connection Team. Share updates. Celebrate wins. Pray together.
30 minutes of vision
30 minutes of prayer
This keeps your team excited and reminds them they’re part of something eternal.
Real Talk: This Actually Works
When you focus on building this kind of team, you don’t have to chase strangers or beg people.
Your connectors introduce you to the right people, and they’re often more open, more generous, and more committed.
God multiplies through relationship, not randomness.
A Word of Encouragement
Friend, this isn’t just about getting funded. It’s about walking in faith.
Every message you send… every story you tell… It’s a chance to show people what God is doing.
You're not asking for charity.
You're inviting people to partner with what God is already doing through your life.
And remember: Faithfulness leads to fruitfulness.
